JOHN GREEN's YA romance, "THE FAULT IN OUR STARS", was released this past weekend in theaters and, judging from my Twitter feed, it was a sob fest. That's cool and all, but what's a lot less cool is the fact that Green is getting a little too, shall we say, congratulatory about a certain element of his creation.
Green reblogged a GIF from the film in which our protagonist Hazel (SHAILENE WOODLEY) kisses Augustus (ANSEL ELGORT), and wrote: "I just want to point out one thing here: When was the last time the girl kissed the boy in a teen romance? Ever? Has it happened ever? I seriously think it might not have happened ever."

Give me a break. Dude, with all due respect: Get off your high horse. There are dozens upon dozens of times in which the girl kissed the guy first. This isn't groundbreaking in the year 2014. Sure, maybe he was exaggerating about not thinking that this has ever happened before, but it's hard not to experience a massive eye roll never the less.
In case any of you, like good ol' John Green, need a reminder, here are at least 12 times when the girl made the first move that were just as noteworthy and memorable:
