As a billionaire playboy who claims to have slept with 10,000 women, Cecil Chao has no doubt about his own sexuality.
Now he is trying to dictate the sexuality of his children as well. The 76-year-old shipping magnate and is offering for marriage 60 million for any man who can win the heart of his lesbian daughter and turn her straight.
He announced the reward after his daughter, Gigi, married her same-sex partner in France. Refusing to accept the gay marriage, he promised the fortune to any prospective male suitor able to walk the 33-year-old Manchester University graduate down the aisle in a traditional wedding ceremony.
The famous Hong Kong promiscuous entrepreneur dismissed false reports of the lesbian wedding of his daughter and insisted that she was still single. "I do not care if he is rich or poor, the important thing is that he is generous and has a good heart," he said about the ideal husband for his daughter.
"Gigi is a very good woman with both talent and looks. She is dedicated to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work," he told the local newspaper. Same sex marriages are not recognized in Hong Kong.
According to reports, the dispute between Mr. Chao and his daughter broke out when she announced at an event in Beijing that she married her long-term lover, Sean Eav. A regular on the social circuit of the city and in the tabloids, Mr. Chao has never been married. Gigi is the eldest of three children he had with three different women.
Besides the dowry, has also offered to start his potential son-in-law in his own business. He said the award was "an incentive to attract someone who has the talent but not the capital to start their own business.
